Developed by Wiiste and Stora Enso, the IoT wood moisture meter, released in summer 2020, is the world's first solution that enables continuous digital monitoring of the wood dry chain. The device sends real-time moisture data to a cloud service and alerts if a wooden element gets wet.

The IoT moisture meter is suitable for all wood elements (CLT, LVL, logs). The real-time data transmitted by the device can be read on mobile devices or computers.

The IoT wood moisture meter passed tests at well-known construction sites before its launch, including Wood City 2 (Helsinki, Finland) and BOKU University (Vienna, Austria). Since its launch, the device has been delivered to Australia, Austria, England, Sweden, France and Spain, in addition to domestic sites.

The device's mounting screws are used as measuring electrodes to measure the moisture profile of the wood at two different depths. The data can also be used to determine the time of possible moisture accumulation – whether moisture accumulated during transport, storage, construction or after the building was completed.
